Recently, Interior Design, the global, industry-leading design publication, held the annual Best of Year Awards. Winners and honorees were announced in virtual ceremonies through the week of December 7 to 10. YANG’s project - Xi’an Silk Road International Conference Center - stood out from 960 entries from the world and became the winner of “Government/Institutional” category.
Founded in 1932, Interior Design ranks among top magazines serving the interior design audiences. This year marks the 15th annual Best of Year Awards organized by the American magazine, an event that has been the essential design authority for every professional in the interior design industry. The winning works, representing the highest standards for design, present the trends in various fields of design, and also provide a higher benchmark for the future development of the industry.
Best of Year Awards 2020 involved 516 companies from 30 countries and nominated 291 finalists for 65 categories, but there would be only one winner in each category. As the only Chinese finalist for Government/Institutional Projects, Xi’an Silk Road International Conference Center won the award of the category, which is full recognition of YANG’s design thoughts and creativity in urban public areas.
The center, as the permanent venue for China’s Silk Road Summit, is the largest and the fullest functional convention hall in China. It covers an area of 100,000 m2 with a gross floor area of 207,000 m2. YANG takes into full consideration space functions that allow the staging of various activities. Through a modern minimal design approach, the designer translates the profound culture of Xi’an, the capital of thirteen dynasties in ancient times, into a world-class convention center featuring both local roots and an international vision. Modern, bright, advanced, and future-oriented, the venue also showcases the grandeur of China to the world.
