The hotel is nestled in Qingcheng Mountain, a world-class scenic resort in Chengdu, China. Inspired by the poem Qingcheng Mountain written by Wang Yuanliang (a poet and musician of the Song dynasty), YANG combines Indigo’s modernity, vitality and character with the secluded, peaceful and ethereal mountain to tell the neighborhood stories only transpired here. Xian Tai (immortals’ tower), the imagery depicted in the poem, is taken as a design clue to deliver a distinct experience from “the earthly world to a fairyland” through spaces with the themes of “At the First Sight of Serenity”, “The Reception for the Nobility”, “Straying into the Fairyland” and “Spiritual Sublimation”. In addition, cultural elements and regional materials are used throughout the space to demonstrate the philosophical lifestyle and attitude of the Chengdu people and to enhance emotional ties within the neighborhood.
